SPEEDA Partners with Dow Jones to Expand News Coverage to Over 200 Countries and Regions Worldwide

Through the merging of industry and corporate information with news, SPEEDA offers a one-stop service that enables instant searches for market trends, as well as research and analysis necessary for business decision making.

31st January, 2018 -- Uzabase, Inc. has announced the massive expansion of news coverage on SPEEDA, an industry and corporate information platform, to include news provided by Dow Jones.

SPEEDA will integrate content from Dow Jones’ Factiva, a leading provider of global business news, which includes premium sources from nearly 200 countries and in 28 languages*1.

To provide this value to SPEEDA users as soon as possible the Beta version of this service would be available from today whilst the official release would be in February *2.

Since the launch of SPEEDA in 2009, the service has been dedicated to establishing a one-stop platform for business people to obtain industry and corporate information. Currently, SPEEDA covers more than 5 million companies across over 200 countries, 1.5 million M&A deals, and around 560 industries. SPEEDA also features structured mapping to help streamline research and analysis for improved decision making.

By partnering with Dow Jones, SPEEDA has expanded its global database to include news, commentary and analysis from premium, licensed publications such as The Wall Street Journal, as well as real-time content from Dow Jones Newswires. In addition this will significantly expand the number of Japanese news sources available on SPEEDA.

The SPEEDA platform now combines stock information on corporations and industries with Factiva’s premium news sources to enable users to not only monitor constantly changing market trends, but also identify emerging business opportunities.

SPEEDA has also introduced an improved search interface. With a more intuitive and speedy search function, as well as links between companies and industries that are related to the news and covered by SPEEDA, users can read all relevant information on the page of the news article without having to go elsewhere.

This partnership was formed following the establishment of a joint venture with Dow Jones, ( https://www.uzabase.com/company/news/newspicks-dowjones/ ) which was announced in May 2017.

Going forward, SPEEDA will continue to develop its news function, with plans to include English-language news articles provided by Dow Jones later this year.

Ota Tomoyuki, Executive Officer, Head of SPEEDA Business, said: “We have been developing SPEEDA as a one-stop database where one can acquire data and business information scattered on and off-line. We aim to further strengthen its functionality, making it a platform that business people use every day. This partnership with Dow Jones not only provides comprehensive, global news coverage, but also plays a critical role in the achievement of this goal. Through the merging of Factiva’s news sources with a well-structured industry and corporate database, SPEEDA will achieve what a simple news database cannot.”

“Unlocking premium news and information to drive better business decisions is at the heart of everything we do,” said William Ashworth, General Manager of Corporate Partners at Dow Jones. “By integrating content with SPEEDA, we are expanding the breadth and reach of information available on the SPEEDA platform, giving users across Asia Pacific access to thousands of quality, trusted sources from around the world. This is just one example of how we are further developing our partnership with Uzabase, combining Dow Jones’ unrivalled news and information with Uzabase’s best-in-class technology.”

*1: The data available through SPEEDA is limited to the publishers for which rights are available for distribution via Dow Jones Factiva. Educational institutions (e.g. universities), research organisations, and those affiliated with legal circles (e.g. law offices) are currently excluded from this service.

*2: The content delivered in the Beta version would not differ from the content in the official release.
